Alert: Cundinamarca (Colombia), 6.3 Earthquake in Colombia on June 8

Alert: 6.3 Earthquake in Cundinamarca (June 8, 2025)

Location: Cundinamarca (including Bogota)

Event:  According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck Cundinamarca Colombia at 8:08 a.m. local time. The epicenter was approximately 12 km NNE of Paratebueno, approximately 120km from Bogota, where the quake was strongly felt.  Aftershocks are common after earthquakes. The U.S. Embassy is continuing to monitor the situation.

Actions to Take:

  • If you are injured, call 123 for immediate assistance.
  • Beware of falling debris and unstable structures.
  • If a strong aftershock occurs, protect yourself by getting underneath a strong piece of furniture such as a table. Stay away from bookshelves or other unsecured furniture.
  • When it is safe to leave the building, do so.
  • Contact friends and family to let them know you are safe.
  • Monitor local news reports.
