Alert: Update on Visa and Entry Ban for U.S. Citizens – June 12, 2025
Location: N’Djamena, Chad
Event: To clarify its previous announcement of a reciprocal ban on visa issuance and entry for U.S. citizens, the Chadian government announced that U.S. citizens who hold a valid Chadian visa issued prior to June 9, 2025, will be allowed entry into Chad. The announcement also clarified that U.S. officials and dual Chadian-American nationals with valid documentation will be allowed entry.

Entry of foreign citizens into Chad is at the sole discretion of the government of Chad and the U.S. Embassy is unable to intervene to facilitate entry for private U.S. citizens. The U.S. Embassy recommends that U.S. citizens monitor embassy messaging and local media for any updates to the Chadian government’s policy.
