Demonstration Alert: Ottawa (Canada), Potential Law Enforcement Activities at Demonstrations

Canadian law enforcement activities pursuant to the declared public order emergency under the Emergencies Act may begin at any time in Ottawa.  

 

The U.S. Embassy advises U.S. citizens traveling or resident in Ottawa to avoid Freedom Convoy protest and demonstration areas.  

 

Actions to Take    

 

Avoid all protests and demonstrations.

 

Monitor the Government of CanadaGovernment of OntarioCity of Ottawa, and the Ottawa Police Service for additional information on official responses to the demonstrations.  Keep STEP Enrollment Active.  If you plan to remain in Canada beyond your previously planned travel dates, modify your STEP profile to continue to receive safety and security information.

Monitor websites for airlines, buses, trains, cruise lines, or travel operators regarding any updated information about your travel plans and/or restrictions.
