Event: A rehearsal for the annual Lukov March is planned for Saturday, February 10, 2024. Each year, the Lukov March is held by ultra-nationalistic ideologues who celebrate Nazi traditions. Organizers are planning two more marches for later this month. Additional messages for the subsequent marches to follow at a later date.
Host nation authorities expect participants of the march to gather at approximately 17:30 and for the demonstration to last until 21:30. Bulgarian officials expect approximately 100 participants. Participants will meet at the National Palace of Culture (NDK) and proceed to #1 Trakai Street (east of Nevski Cathedral).
U.S. citizens and their family members are advised to avoid the areas affected by this march.
Please anticipate road closures and an increase in police presence in this area. Expect delays, roadblocks, and heavy traffic throughout downtown Sofia. Please note that the demonstration times and road closures are subject to change.

Even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and possibly become violent.
- Avoid areas of demonstrations.
- Exercise caution if unexpectedly found in the vicinity of large gatherings or protests.
- Be aware of your surroundings.
- Monitor local media for updates.
- Keep a low profile.
