Downtown: On Saturday, June 22, 2024, two marches are planned across downtown Sofia. The March of the Traditional Bulgarian Family is scheduled to take place 09:30 – 13:30. This march is considered a counter-Pride event. The second march, the Sofia Pride March, will gather beginning at 14:00 (2:00 PM). The march is scheduled for 19:30 (7:30 PM).
Embassy: On Sunday June 23, a protest is schedule to occur in front of the Embassy between 12:00 – 17:00 (5:00 PM).
Actions to Take:
Even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and possibly become violent.
Avoid areas of demonstrations.
Exercise caution if unexpectedly found in the vicinity of large gatherings or demonstrations.
Be aware of your surroundings.
Monitor local media for updates.
Keep a low profile.
U.S. Citizens are advised to call the police (#112), seek a safe location, and wait for assistance from the police.
