Weather Alert: Hamilton (Bermuda), Updated Weather Alert

Weather Alert: The Bermuda Weather Service is closely tracking Hurricane Humberto, which is currently 429 nautical miles  west of the island, moving east-northeast at 8 miles per hour. Closest point of approach to Bermuda within 72 hrs (3 days) is forecast to be 78 nm to the NW, 10 pm Wed, Sep 18, 2019. However, this system may move closer to Bermuda after this time period depending upon its track.  

 

Actions to Take: All U.S. citizens living in or traveling to Bermuda should monitor local weather reports, and follow directions from local officials. All Schools and Government Offices will close as of 12 noon on Wednesday. Ferries will cease as of noon and public buses as of 5pm on Wednesday.  Cedarbridge Academy will be open as an emergency shelter. The Bermuda Government Emergency Broadcast radio station, FM 100.1, will be in operation as of 7pm on Wednesday. The public is encouraged to be off the roads as of 7pm on Wednesday. Storm Force winds with gusts of Hurricane force will be felt between 7pm and Midnight. High Tide will be at about midnight, increasing the potential for storm surge.

 

The U.S. Consulate will close at 12 noon on Wednesday, 18 September, and will reopen at 8:00am on Friday, September 20.
