Demonstration Alert: Yerevan (Armenia), Potentially Disruptive Protests Expected on May 3

Local media outlets have reported that protests throughout the capital are expected today, May 3, starting at 08:15. Civil disruption in the form of spontaneous road closures, and police checkpoints, with the ability to impact normal commuting and transit times are likely to continue.  These demonstrations are unpredictable, and participants could change direction at any moment, creating new traffic and movement blockages.  Even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and possibly become violent.

  • Avoid the area.
  • Monitor local media for updates.
  • Avoid crowds.
  • Avoid demonstrations.
  • Notify friends and family of your safety.
  • Be aware of your surroundings.
