Security Alert: Armenia, Summer Travel Restrictions

With the arrival of the summer travel season in Armenia, the U.S. Embassy in Yerevan reminds U.S. citizens that due to the on-going conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, U.S. Embassy employees and their families are prohibited from any non-essential travel to the following locations, which reflects a slight easing since the restrictions were put in place in September 2022:

• Tavush region eastward of Varagavan on the H37 roadway.

• Tavush region eastward of Navur on the H36 roadway.

• Gegharkunik region east of Vardenis.

• Travel through Yeraskh village in Ararat region is allowed, stopping is not.

• Travel to Jermuk, past Getik in Vayots Dzor region via H42 and H43 roads.

• Syunik region.

• Travel to Nagorno-Karabakh continues to be prohibited.

U.S. citizens should continue to exercise caution near all international borders between Armenia and Azerbaijan and avoid travel near the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone and line of contact. The U.S. government is unable to provide emergency services to U.S. citizens in and around Nagorno-Karabakh as access is restricted.
