Health Alert: Argentina, Sale of Airline Tickets for Regular Commercial Flights is Prohibited Until September 1

Location:  Argentina 

 

Event:  The Argentine government announced the sale of airline tickets for regular commercial flights is prohibited until September 1Only flights that receive special permission will operate. The Embassy reiterates its recommendation that American citizens who wish to leave to the country do so immediately 

 

There are still seats remaining on the Eastern Airlines flight from Buenos Aires to Miami, Florida on Wednesday, April 29, at 11:30 a.m. from Ministro Pistarini International Airport (Ezeiza). Please monitor https://goeasternair.com for the latest information on the flight and ticket availability. U.S. citizens interested in departing on this flight will need to book directly with Eastern Airlines. *The flight is subject to change.*  

 

The Embassy cannot guarantee future availability of these special flights. For U.S. citizens who live in the United States, this may be one of your last opportunities to return until regular international commercial air service reopens in Argentina. If you need to leave Argentina, you should strongly consider booking this flight, otherwise you should be prepared to remain abroad for an indefinite period. 

 

Please reference our Embassy webpage on COVID-19 for the list of required documents and permissions required by the Argentine government to travel to the airport and options on traveling to Buenos Aires from the provinces. Only travelers with confirmed international flight reservations may travel from the provinces to the Buenos Aires metropolitan area 24 hours in advance of the flight.  

 

The Government of Argentina extended the quarantine through May 10.  Limited quarantine exemptions include movement to obtain food and medical care and travel to the international airport for ticketed passengers. More information on the quarantine can be found on the Ministry of Health’s website.  The use of face masks in cars and trains is required in all areas of national jurisdiction and in many provinces.
