Event: There is an ongoing outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19) first identified in Wuhan, China. The global public health threat posed by COVID-19 is high, with more than 160,000 reported cases worldwide.
On March 15, the Algerian Ministry of Health announced 54 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including four deaths, in Algeria.
US government personnel are advised to practice social distancing and restrict in-country and international travel. US Embassy consular services are limited.
The government of Algeria has implemented enhanced screening and quarantine measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Travelers should be prepared for travel restrictions to be put into effect with little or no advance notice. Schools and Universities are closed. Cultural, sporting, and commercial events are suspended. Public baths, event halls, and nightclubs are closed. Transportation to and from Algeria is limited.
CDC has issued a Level 2 Travel Notice.
