Event 1: On May 9-11, 2025, Albania will be hosting the Giro d’Italia bike race. The Embassy anticipates widespread road closures, heavy traffic, and especially limited parking throughout downtown Tirana. On Sunday, May 11, the race will conclude in Vlore. Please see below information regarding road closures.

Event 2: On Sunday, May 11, 2025 Parliamentary elections will also be held throughout Albania. Voting stations will remain open from 07:00 until 19:00. The elections are expected to draw widespread media attention and there may be large crowds, moderate traffic disruption, and congestion in major cities near voting stations throughout the country.
Event 3: On Thursday and Friday, May 15-16, 2025, the European Political Community Summit will be held in Tirana, Albania. Major heads of state and government are expected to attend this event. The Embassy anticipates heightened security measures and police patrols throughout Tirana, potential traffic disruptions, and street closures, especially in areas adjacent to government facilities, and Skanderbeg Square, in downtown Tirana as well as outlying areas.
Please note that these designations also may be subject to change. Monitor local media and follow instructions of local law enforcement authorities for the latest information. Due to the large crowds expected in Tirana, please exercise caution throughout the city and be aware of your surroundings.
