Event: There is no higher priority than the safety and security of American citizens for President Trump, Secretary of State Rubio, and the entire Department of State. Due to ongoing regional tensions and public threats against U.S. interests in the region, the U.S. Embassy in Djibouti continues to advise its personnel to avoid the area near the U.S. Embassy and Camp Lemonnier.
The U.S. Embassy urges all U.S. citizens in Djibouti to exercise increased caution and remain informed.
Embassy Djibouti Operations:
Routine consular appointments have been cancelled. The embassy has reduced its onsite presence but remains operational and able to provide emergency services to U.S. citizens. If you are in need of emergency consular services, please contact DjiboutiACS@state.gov.

- Monitor local and international news, including BBC radio on FM 99.5 MHz;
- Watch for mass SMS alerts via your Djiboutian telecom provider;
- Be aware of your surroundings and remain alert;
- Avoid areas with increased security presence or large gatherings;
- Review your personal security plans;
- Carry proper identification at all times;
- Notify friends and family of your safety;
- Enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) at https://mytravel.state.gov/s/step to receive Alerts and make it easier to locate you in an emergency; and
- Pay attention to official communications from the Djiboutian government and the U.S. Embassy.
