Event

The U.S. Consulate is aware of a planned demonstration in conjunction with recent developments in the Middle East on Friday, May 8, 2026, 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.  Even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and escalate quickly.  Local authorities may increase security measures, including road closures, traffic restrictions, or increased police presence in areas where demonstrations occur.

 

Actions to Take

  • Avoid the area opposite the Consulate in Perth.  WA Police and Australian Federal Police will be present to monitor the situation and ensure safety.
  • Avoid demonstrations and crowds.
  • Check local media for breaking news.  Be prepared to adjust your plans.
  • Remain alert to your surroundings and possible threats.
  • Keep travel documents up to date and easily accessible.
  • Keep a low profile.
  • Notify friends and family of your safety.
  • Be aware of your surroundings.
