Demonstration Alert: U.S. Consulate General in Johannesburg (March 12, 2026)

Location:  Johannesburg, South Africa

Event:  There is a planned demonstration at the U.S. Consulate General in Johannesburg on Saturday, March 14, from 14:00 – 16:00.  Due to the demonstration, there will be additional police presence around the Consulate, and traffic delays in the vicinity are likely.  Even events intended to be peaceful can become violent.

• Avoid large crowds.
• Monitor local media for updates.
• Follow the instructions of local authorities.
• Plan alternative routes.
