April 8, 2026

Location: Trinidad and Tobago

The U.S. embassy’s American Citizen Services offers U.S. voting information as U.S. primary elections are ongoing.

 What are Primaries?

Primaries are elections that political parties use to select candidates for a general election. Then each party’s candidates run against each other in the general election. For more information on primary elections, please review FVAP’s Primary Elections Fact Sheet .

When are Primary Elections?

Primary election dates by state and territory are available via FVAP’s Upcoming Primary Elections calendar  or via printable PDF .

You can visit your state’s voting website or follow these instructions:

  1. Request Your Ballot Now.

Complete a new Federal Post Card Application (FPCA)  online. The online voting assistant will ask you questions specific to your state. Request your blank ballots be delivered electronically (by email, internet download, or fax, depending on your state).

Submitting the FPCA allows you to request absentee ballots for all elections for federal offices including primaries and special elections this year.

  1. Receive And Complete Your Ballot.

States are required to send ballots 45 days before a regular election for federal office, and generally send ballots at least 30 days before primary elections. For most states, you can confirm your registration and ballot delivery online .

  1. Return Your Completed Ballot.

If your state requires you to return paper voting forms or ballots to local election officials, please ensure your envelope is addressed to your local election officials and is either placed in a postage-paid envelope or bears sufficient domestic U.S. postage before delivering to the U.S. embassy via the methods below:

  • Drop it off free of charge in the clear locked box at the U.S. embassy’s main entrance at 15 Queen’s Park West (Savannah entrance) during business hours (between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm M-F except local and U.S. holidays). You must present your U.S. passport to enter.
  • Mail your federal post card applications/absentee ballots to the U.S. embassy via TTPOST to this address:

C/O Consular Section – American Citizen Services

           2 Marli Street, Newtown 190203
