Demonstration Alert: Mexico City (Mexico), Protests and Vandalism Outside the U.S. Embassy

Location: U.S. Embassy Mexico City

Event: A protest denouncing U.S. actions against Venezuela continues to take place in front of the U.S. Embassy in the Polanco neighborhood of Mexico City. Protestors have thrown rocks and painted vandalism on exterior walls. Social media posts about the protest have included anti-American sentiment.  Embassy personnel have been advised to avoid the area.

Actions to Take:

  • Demonstrations can be unpredictable and may occur nationwide; avoid areas around protests and demonstrations.
  • Be cognizant of the potential for anti-American sentiment in the coming days while going about your daily activities.
  • Monitor local media for updates.
  • Follow the directions of local authorities and in case of emergency, call 911.
