Alert – U.S. Embassy Georgetown, Guyana (September 14, 2023)
Location: Georgetown, Guyana- Le Ressouvenir Area
Event: The U.S. Embassy is monitoring an ongoing fire in the vicinity of Le Ressouvenir. Currently the fire is contained to an empty field just east of Le Ressouvenir although conditions are suitable for escalation and possible spreading. Air quality in Le Ressouvenir has significantly degraded and U.S. government personnel are advised to evacuate the area. The Guyana Fire Department is actively working to contain the fire and we will continue to monitor this situation for updates.
