Event: On November 6, 2025, the Andre Rebouças Tunnel was closed in the Lagoa direction due to a bus electrical fire, causing traffic disruptions in the surrounding areas. The Rebouças Tunnel is located on the north side of the Lagoa and connects Lagoa to the neighborhoods of Rio Comprido and further to the Galeao International Airport. U.S. government personnel have been advised to plan their routes accordingly. Brazilian authorities are advising commuters to use alternate routes, including the Santa Barbara Tunnel or the Aterro do Flamengo. The U.S. Consulate is open and operating with regular business hours.
