Security Alert:  U.S. Embassy Kyiv, Ukraine (November 3, 2025)

Security Alert:  U.S. Embassy Kyiv, Ukraine (November 3, 2025)

Location: Ukraine, all districts

Event:  Due to recent attacks from Russian missiles and drones hitting Ukraine’s critical civilian and energy infrastructure, the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv urges U.S. citizens in Ukraine to exercise heightened caution.  These attacks may result in power outages, loss of heating, and disruption of municipal services.  All U.S. citizens should follow Ukrainian government alerts regarding air attacks and monitor a reliable “air alert” app on your mobile phone.  U.S. citizens should abide by all government curfews and quickly follow instructions and seek shelter during air alerts.  The Department of State continues to advise U.S. citizens not to travel to Ukraine.

Actions to Take:

  • Identify shelter locations in advance of any air alert.
  • Download a reliable air alert app to your mobile phone, such as Air Alert .
  • Immediately take shelter if an air alert is announced.
  • Monitor local media for updates.
  • Keep reserves of water, food, and other essentials, including ample supplies of all required medications.
  • Prepare for possible temporary loss of electricity and heating.
  • Follow the directions of Ukrainian officials and first responders in the event of an emergency.
  • Review what the Department of State Can and Cannot Do in a Crisis .
