Demonstration Alert: Spain, Anti US Policy Demonstrations Planned for January 3-4, 2026

Location: U.S. Embassy Madrid, U.S. Consulate Barcelona, and other locations throughout Spain.

Event: Anti-U.S policy demonstrations are scheduled to take place throughout Spain through the weekend. Demonstrations are currently planned on Calle Serrano near the U.S. Embassy in Madrid on Sunday, January 4 and Monday, January 5, beginning at noon. Access to the U.S. Embassy may be impacted.

Demonstrations are also expected to occur near U.S. Consulate General Barcelona and U.S. Consular Agency Valencia on Saturday, January 3 at 7:00pm.  Additional demonstrations throughout Spain are likely in the near future.


Actions to Take:

  • Avoid large gatherings.
  • Exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of large gatherings or protests.
  • Be aware of your surroundings.
  • Follow the instructions of authorities and signs regarding closures and detours.
  • Monitor local media for updates.
  • Keep a low profile.
