Event: Changes in Quarantine Measures Announced
The government of Chile has implemented measures to limit the spread of COVID-19. On April 1, the government of Chile announced the following measures designed to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. All changes are effective beginning Monday, April 5:
· The tightening of Chile's borders through the month of April. Chilean citizens and residents will be allowed to enter Chile, but will be allowed to depart Chile unless they have exceptional circumstances- they must request a permit via Comisaría Virtual. Non-resident foreigners will not be allowed to enter Chile, but will be allowed to depart.
· The nightly curfew in Chile will begin at 9:00 p.m.
· Movement restrictions: Individuals in Comunas that are in Paso 1 or 2 will be allowed two permits (permiso de desplazamiento) a week, but only one can be used on the weekends or holidays. Individuals are allowed outside for exercise without a permit from 6:00 am to 9:00 am, seven days a week.
