Location: Mexican States of Campeche, Quintana Roo, and Yucatán
Event: Hurricane Delta made landfall near Puerto Morelos, Quintana Roo, Mexico at 4:45 a.m. CDT. Delta weakened from a Category 4 to a Category 3 storm shortly before it landed, with sustained winds of 110 miles per hour, and has since weakened to a Category 2 storm. A Hurricane Warning remains in effect for the area from Tulum to Dzilam (including the island of Cozumel), and Tropical Storm Warnings are in effect for Punta Herrero to Tulum and Dzilam to Progreso. The National Hurricane Center predicts further weakening as the storm moves inland, but heavy rain, localized flooding, strong winds, and dangerous storm tides and waves will still be present.
