Weather Alert: Luxembourg, Risk of Floods with Orange and Yellow Alerts

Events:    

Luxembourg's government flood warning service has announced orange and yellow alerts for several parts of the country. MeteoLux and official websites have announced a risk of floods that could have a significant impact on people and property, even in areas that are rarely flooded.

Water levels on the Alzette River and its tributaries are expected to rise rapidly on Friday, May 17, 2024. The Alzette is expected to reach flood levels in the late evening or after midnight.

Increased caution is recommended, particularly along smaller waterways.

Actions to Take:

·     Monitor local media and governemental websites for updates - https://inondations.lu/alerts and https://www.meteolux.lu

·     Avoid flooded areas

·     Be aware of your surroundings

·     Use caution when walking or driving at night

·     Seek secure shelter

·     Make contingency plans

·     Notify friends and family of your safety
