Location: The Bahamas, countrywide

Event: The holiday season historically sees an increase in crime. The U.S. Embassy reminds U.S. citizens to be aware of their surroundings and remain on heightened alert to avoid becoming a victim of crime.

Local police are urging  the public to remain vigilant about their safety this holiday season, as they similarly warned  last year and in recent years .

Actions to Take:

  • Do not physically resist any robbery attempt.
  • Be aware of your surroundings.
  • Be vigilant when visiting banks and ATMs.
  • Do not display signs of wealth.
  • Park in well-lit areas and do not store valuables in your car.
  • Keep a low profile.
