The Government of Morocco has extended the country’s “Health State of Emergency” until May 10, 2021. The Government of Morocco has also announced a nation-wide curfew for the period of Ramadan from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
The U.S. Mission in Morocco would like to remind Americans to remain vigilant while shopping and driving over the Ramadan period. In recent years, the Consulate General has observed a general increase in petty crime during this period, in particular an increase in pickpocketing, purse snatchings, and cell phone theft in local souks and markets. There is also a marked increase in reported traffic accidents during this period.
Morocco will be changing clocks back one hour on Sunday, April 11 at 3:00 a.m. (GMT), and then forward one hour on Sunday, May 16 at 2:00 a.m. (GMT+1).
Please note while the American Citizen Services unit at the U.S. Consulate General in Casablanca will have limited public hours during Ramadan, Mondays – Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., it will be open for emergency services during regular hours until 4:00 p.m.
