Location: Northwest Bahamas
Event: Hurricane Milton is a category 5 Hurricane with 175-MPH winds in the Gulf of Mexico. It is forecast to approach the west coast of the Florida peninsula by Wednesday. According to the Bahamas Department of Meteorology (met.gov.bs), residents in the Northwest Bahamas should closely monitor the hurricane’s movement as it is expected to produce heavy rainfall across the area and storm surge in the northern Bahamas.
Actions to Take:
- Avoid travel to the areas forecast to be impacted by the hurricane until the storm has dissipated.
