U.S. Embassy Lima is closely monitoring the situation following yesterday’s train accident between Ollantaytambo and Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo). Peruvian authorities recently announced they have reopened commercial rail service along the Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes route. Travelers with rail travel plans should contact their rail service provider regarding rescheduling. Travelers should consult directly with their guides or tourist agencies and adjust plans accordingly.
