The Portuguese Government has extended a state of emergency

The Portuguese Government has extended a state of emergency until February 15 due to ongoing severe weather conditions.

Persistent and intense rainfall continues across Portugal, increasing the risk of river overflows, flash flooding, and landslides. Conditions remain hazardous, particularly in low-lying and flood-prone areas.

Please continue to monitor official updates and follow guidance from local authorities.

 

Actions to Take:

  • Avoid low-lying areas and beaches.
  • Do not travel outdoors unless necessary.
  • Monitor local media for updates.
  • Follow the Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere IPMA  for updated forecasts.
  • Check the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection PROCIV 
  • Gather an emergency kit: https://www.ready.gov/kit .
  • Make an evacuation plan.
