Demonstration Alert – U.S. Embassy Kenya (May 18, 2026)

The embassy has received reports of road blockages of major thoroughfares throughout Kenya. Traffic disruptions can be expected. It is unknown how long these disruptions may continue. The Department of State reminds citizens to exercise caution in the vicinity of any demonstrations.

Actions to take:

• Monitor local media for highway and road conditions before traveling over the next several days.

• Avoid crowds.

• Keep doors locked and windows rolled up while in a vehicle.

• Review your personal security plans.

• Notify friends and family of your whereabouts and safety.
