Weather Alert: Gaza and Maputo Provinces (Mozambique), Flood Waters Threatening Several Communities

Location: Gaza and Maputo Provinces

Event: The U.S. Embassy is tracking updates from Mozambican authorities that the flood waters are threatening communities in Namaacha and Boane in Maputo Province, and all communities in Gaza Province along or near the Limpopo River below the Massingir Dam, to include Macarretane, Chokwe, and Xai Xai. Residents are being evacuated.

Actions to Take: 

• Prepare emergency supplies for sheltering at home without electricity or water for at least three days. See additional guidance here.
• Make contingency plans to leave areas affected by flooding. Have travel documents up to date and easily accessible.
