Event: Changes in Quarantine Measures Announced
***The Embassy will send STEP messages whenever there are changes to quarantine measures announced by the Chilean government***
As of November 2, the Ministry of Health has confirmed 513,188 cases of COVID-19 in Chile.
The government of Chile has implemented measures to limit the spread of COVID-19. The following new measures were announced by the Chilean government on November 2:
· The upgrading of the following comunas from Phase 1 (Quarantine) to Phase 2 (Transition). This includes the removal of quarantine from Monday-Friday (begins Thursday, November 5 at 5:00 am):
o Pichidegua (VII Region)
o Curanilahue (VIII Region)
o Los Álamos (VIII Region)
o Frutillar (X Region)
o Fresia (X Region)
· The upgrading of the following comunas from Phase 2 (Transition) to Phase 3 (Preparation). This includes the lifting of quarantine on the weekends and holidays (begins Thursday, November 5 at 5:00 am):
o Pozo Almonte (I Region)
o Tierra Amarilla (III Region)
o Vallenar (III Region)
o Copiapó (III Region)
o Viña del Mar (V Region)
o Valparaíso (V Region)
o Conchalí (RM)
o San Miguel (RM)
o San Ramón (RM)
o La Granja (RM)
o Puente Alto (RM)
o La Pintana (RM)
o Buin (RM)
o Rengo (VI Region)
o San Vicente (VI Region)
o San José de Mariquina (XIV Region)
· The upgrading of the following comunas from Phase 3 (Preparation) to Phase 4 (Initial Opening). This includes the re-opening of cinemas and movie theaters, as well as indoor seating at restaraunts at limited capacity (begins Thursday, November 5 at 5:00 am):
o Cerrillos (RM)
· The following changes to quarantine were also announced (all changes begin Thursday, November 5):
o With the exceptions below, the national curfew will be from 12:00 midnight to 5:00 am
o More restrictive curfews in place in the Magallanes Region remain in effect
o Curfew in Puerto Montt will move up to 8:00 pm to 5:00 am
