Location: U.S. Embassy Tegucigalpa, Honduras

Event:  The U.S. Embassy is aware of calls for a possible demonstration that could occur at or near the U.S. Embassy in Tegucigalpa on Thursday, January 8, 2026.  U.S. citizens are advised to monitor local media and avoid travel to the U.S. Embassy while demonstrations are ongoing. Traffic disruptions and congestion may occur.  U.S. citizens in Honduras are reminded to remain aware of their surroundings as situations may change quickly.  Even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and escalate into violence.

Actions to Take:

  • Avoid Boulevard Los Próceres near the U.S. Embassy.
  • Avoid crowds and demonstrations.
  • Exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of large gatherings.
  • Be aware of your surroundings.
  • Keep a low profile.
  • Review your personal security plans.
  • Have travel documents and identification up to date and easily accessible.
  • Have alternative transportation routes in mind.
  • Be prepared to adjust your plans.
  • Monitor local media and U.S. Embassy Instagram Facebook  and  pages for updates.
