Demonstration Alert: U.S. Embassy Havana, Cuba – January 15, 2026
Location: Havana, Cuba

Event: The U.S. Embassy will only be open for emergency services for U.S. citizens on Friday, January 16, 2026.  The Cuban regime has called for an event in the plaza in front of the U.S. Embassy and access to the area will be restricted.  The streets in the neighborhood surrounding the Embassy will be closed to all vehicle traffic.

We remind U.S. citizens to avoid large gatherings.  U.S. citizens with emergencies, please call +(53) (7) 839-4100; after hours dial 1, then 0.

Actions to Take:

  • Avoid crowds.
  • Be aware of heightened police presence as well as traffic detours and interruptions to transit.
  • Be aware of your surroundings.
  • Monitor local media for updates.
