Security Message for U.S. Citizens: Juba (South Sudan), Ongoing Fighting

Serious fighting between government and opposition forces in Juba is ongoing and a ceasefire has not been achieved. On July 10, the Department of State ordered the departure of non-emergency personnel from South Sudan. To be clear, this is a reduction in staff, not an embassy closure. Although the U.S. Embassy is closed to the public, it continues operations. U.S. citizens should remain vigilant. Your best course of action is to continue to shelter in a safe location away from doors and windows, and avoid non-essential movements. The Embassy continues to monitor the situation and will update you as information becomes available.

If you are a U.S. citizen in South Sudan and need emergency consular services, please contact the U.S. Embassy in South Sudan at +211 912 105 107 or + 1 202 216 6279 ext. 253. We urge U.S. citizens in South Sudan who are safe to contact your loved ones directly and/or update your social media status.
