University students have announced plans for a protest march today (June 7, 2023) in Colombo, starting at 1 PM at Victoria Park and headed towards the Presidential Secretariat. Approximately 1000-1500 participants are expected to march. The march is likely to cause road congestion.
Even peaceful demonstrations can quickly turn confrontational and escalate into violence. Avoid areas where demonstrations are taking place and exercise caution when in the vicinity of large gatherings, protests, or demonstrations.
