Security Alert: Kinshasa (DRC), Active Fire at UNICEF Warehouse in Gombe

Security Alert: U.S. Embassy Kinshasa, DRC (August 7, 2020) 

Location: Gombe, Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC)  

Event: There is an active fire at the UNICEF warehouse at the UtexAfrica compound in Gombe, Kinshasa.  Increased traffic and emergency response vehicles are in the area.  There is a large amount of smoke from the fire. 

Actions to Take: 

• Avoid the UtexAfrica compound and surrounding area.   
• Stay indoors with the windows closed if you are in the area of the smoke. 
• Monitor local media.
