Demonstration Alert: Planned Demonstration at U.S. Embassy Tegucigalpa (December 23, 2025)

Location: U.S. Embassy Tegucigalpa, Honduras

Event:  The U.S. Embassy is aware of calls on social media for a possible demonstration that could occur at or near the U.S. Embassy in Tegucigalpa at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 23, 2025.  U.S. citizens are advised to monitor local media and avoid travel to the U. S. Embassy while demonstrations are ongoing to avoid traffic and congestion that could result.  U.S. citizens in Honduras are reminded to maintain awareness of their surroundings as the situation may change quickly.  Even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and escalate into violence.

Actions to Take: 

  • Avoid Boulevard Los Próceres near the U.S. Embassy.
  • Avoid crowds and demonstrations.
  • Exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of large gatherings.
  • Be aware of your surroundings.
  • Keep a low profile.
  • Review your personal security plans.
  • Have travel documents and identification up to date and easily accessible.
  • Carry proper identification at all times.
  • Have alternative transportation routes in mind.
  • Monitor local media and U.S. Embassy Facebook  and Twitter  pages for updates.  Be prepared to adjust your plans.
