Event: Changes in Quarantine Measures Announced

 

***The Embassy will send STEP messages whenever there are changes to quarantine measures announced by the Chilean government***

 

As of February 15, the Ministry of Health has confirmed 779,541 cases of COVID-19 in Chile.

 

The government of Chile has implemented measures to limit the spread of COVID-19. The following new measures were announced by the Chilean government on February 15:

·         The imposition of a quarantine for the following comunas (begins Thursday, February 18 at 5:00 am):

o    Licantén (VII Region)

o    Pencahue (VII Region)

o    Futrono (XIV Region)

o    Mariquina (XIV Region)

·         The upgrading of the following comunas from Phase 1 (Quarantine) to Phase 2 (Transition). This includes the lifting of quarantine Monday-Friday (begins Tuesday, February 16 at 5:00 am):

o    Iquique (I Region)

o    Alto Hospicio (I Region)

o    Antofagasta (II Region)

o    Copiapó (III Region)

o    Diego de Almagro (III Region)

o    Laja (VIII Region)

o    Pucón (IX Region)

o    Castro (X Region)

o    Puyehue (X Region)

o    Río Negro (X Region)

o    Puerto Varas (X Region)

o    Quellón (X Region)

o    Dalcahue (X Region)

o    Fresia (X Region)

o    Puerto Montt (X Region)

o    Osorno (X Region)

o    San Pablo (X Region)

o    Quinchao (X Region)

o    Quemchi (X Region)

o    San Juan de la Costa (X Region)

o    Ancud (X Region)

o    Puerto Octay (X Region)

o    Curaco de Vélez (X Region)

·         The upgrading of the following comunas from Phase 2 (Transition) to Phase 3 (Preparation). This includes the lifting of quarantine on the weekends and holidays (Thursday, Feburary 18 at 5:00 am):

o    Petorca (V Region)

o    Olivar (VI Region)

o    Santa Cruz (VI Region)

o    Rancagua (VI Region)

o    Nancagua (VI Region)

o    Coltauco (VI Region)

o    Coinco (VI Region)

o    Rauco (VII Region)

o    Curacautín (IX Region)

o    Futaleufú (X Region)

o    Aysén (XI Region)

o    Porvenir (XII Region)

 

  • The downgrading  of the following comunas from Phase 3 (Preparation) to Phase 2 (Transition). This includes the reimposition of quarantines on the weekends and holidays (begins Thursday, February 18 at 5:00 am):
    • El Quisco (V Region)
    • El Tabo (V Region)
    • Placilla (VI Region)
    • Marchigüe (VI Region)
    • Chimbarongo (VI Region)
    • Pichidegua (VI Region)
    • Ninhue (XVI Region)
    • Ranquil (XVI Region)
    • Ñiquén (XVI Region)
    • Coelemu (XVI Region)
    • Quilleco (VIII Region)
    • Ercilla (IX Region)
    • Renaico (IX Region)
