Visa and Entry Ban for U.S. Citizens: – U.S. Embassy Libreville (December 29, 2025)
Location: Countrywide
Event: On December 16, 2025, the United States issued a Presidential Proclamation imposing partial entry restrictions on nationals of several countries, including Gabon, effective January 1, 2026. On December 18, the Gabonese Council of Ministers announced, via local media, that Gabon would apply reciprocal measures suspending visa issuance to U.S. citizens.
The U.S. Embassy recommends that U.S. citizens considering travel to Gabon check with the nearest Gabonese embassy or consulate for the most up-to-date entry requirements. Entry of foreign citizens into Gabon is at the sole discretion of the Government of Gabon, and the U.S. Embassy is unable to intervene to facilitate entry for private U.S. citizens.
Actions to Take:
- Consult Government of Gabon embassies and official websites for authoritative updates on entry requirements.
- Monitor local media and U.S. Embassy Libreville messaging for further developments.
- Exercise normal caution and maintain a low profile.
