Demonstration Alert: Madrid and Barcelona (Spain), Multiple Demonstrations Planned for March 14

Location: Spain, countrywide  

Event: The U.S. Embassy in Madrid and Consulate General in Barcelona are aware of planned demonstrations related to recent events in the Middle East that may occur throughout Spain on March 14, 2026.  Additional spontaneous demonstrations may occur in the coming days.  Even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and escalate quickly. 

Local authorities may increase security measures, including road closures, traffic restrictions, or increased police presence in areas where demonstrations occur.

  • Avoid demonstrations and crowds. 
  • Check local media for breaking news. Be prepared to adjust your plans.  
  • Remain alert to your surroundings and possible threats.  
  • Keep a low profile.        
  • Review your personal security plans.
