Security Alert – U.S. Embassy Port-au-Prince, Haiti, November 24, 2025

Location: Port-au-Prince, Haiti

Event: Sunrise Airlines has suspended flights into and out of Port-au-Prince, due to a recent shooting involving a Sunrise plane. Violence and gang -related activity is limiting travel along major highways that connect Port-au-Prince with other areas of the country. Travel into and out of Port-au-Prince is increasingly dangerous.

The U.S. State Department’s Travel Advisory for Haiti is Level Four: Do Not Travel. The U.S. embassy advises all U.S. citizens currently in Haiti to leave as soon as they feel safe to do so.

·       U.S. citizens who are unable to depart Haiti should expect ongoing disruptions to critical infrastructure including seaports, roads, and airports.

·       Shortages of fuel, water, and food may occur.

·       U.S. citizens remaining in Haiti should be prepared to shelter in place until the security situation stabilizes or until they feel safe to leave Haiti.

The U.S. embassy in Port-au-Prince has reduced staffing and resources and has limited capacity to directly assist U.S. citizens both in Port-au-Prince and outside the capital.

Actions to Take:

·       DO NOT TRAVEL TO HAITI.

·       Monitor local media for updates on security and status of roads and airports.

·       Be aware of your surroundings.

·       Make plans to leave Haiti as soon as it is safe to do so.

·       Review your personal security plans.

·       Have travel documents up to date and easily accessible.

·       Have evacuation plans that do not rely on U.S. Government assistance.

·       Keep a reasonable supply of food, water, and fuel without hoarding.
