Location: Puracé National Natural Park, Cauca Department, Colombia
Event: The Colombian Geologic Service has raised the alert level of the Puracé volcano near Popayán to orange. The volcano is a popular hiking destination. The volcano last erupted in 2023. This alert notes changing seismic conditions which indicate the ongoing release of volcanic gasses. You can access the most recent alerts and notices from the Colombian Geologic Service here .
Actions to Take:
Avoid the immediate area surrounding the volcano.
Do not climb to the summit or into the caldera.
