Sri Lanka is currently experiencing monsoon conditions, with many parts of the country receiving heavy rainfall. The Department of Meteorology has issued an “Amber” advisory for heavy rains affecting the Western and Sabaragamuwa Provinces, as well as the Puttalam, Galle, and Matara districts on May 13, 2026; and the National Building Research Organization (NBRO) and the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) issued warnings about potential landslides.
Heavy showers are expected across the country from time to time. American Citizens residing in the country are advised to take necessary precautions to minimize potential damage caused by heavy rain, flooding, strong winds, and lightning during thundershowers.

- Monitor public weather alerts for your area .
- Monitor local news to get any updates of any road closures and conditions.
- In case of any flooding, do not enter floodwaters and avoid travel in effected areas.
