Location: Bogota and other cities
Event: A planned protest is scheduled to take place at Plaza Bolivar in Bogota on February 19, 2026 at approximately 4:00 p.m. Protests have been called for public squares in other cities throughout Colombia at various times throughout the day.
The Embassy will maintain regular hours, and previously scheduled appointments will be completed.
There may be traffic disruptions in and around protest locations. U.S. citizens should avoid protests as they have the potential to turn violent.
U.S. Embassy Bogota will monitor protest activity and provide updates as necessary.
Actions to Take:
- Avoid crowds and protests.
- Be aware of your surroundings.
- Wear little to no jewelry and carry few valuables. Keep a low profile.
- Avoid using your cell phone in public.
- Do not physically resist any robbery attempt.
- Keep car doors locked, and windows rolled up.
- Leave early and allow extra time for travel.
- Monitor local news media for updates.
