OSAC Bureau of Diplomatic Security U.S. Department of State
Location: Countrywide
Event: The U.S. Embassy in Tirana continues to monitor flooding throughout the country and urges all U.S. citizens to exercise caution in areas threatened by the floods as they continue to worsen. Several areas throughout the country are under evacuation order. Flooding may occur with little notice, and the rain may close roads due to flooding or landslides. U.S. citizens in Albania in need of assistance may contact the U.S. Embassy by phone at 4224-7285 (dialing from Albania) or +355-4224-7285 (dialing from outside Albania), or email: ACSTirana@state.gov.
Actions to Take:
– U.S. citizens should avoid affected areas, especially those under evacuation orders, and follow police instructions regarding road closures or traffic disruptions. Monitor local news for updates on flooding conditions and plan your routes accordingly. Google Maps may also provide real-time information on road closures and floods.
– Do not attempt to drive through areas that are affected by flooding. Seek an alternate route or consider delaying travel if an alternate route is not available.
– We strongly encourage U.S. citizens in affected areas who are safe to monitor local news and to contact their loved ones directly and/or update their status on social media.
– If you have an immediate or life-threatening emergency, please call 127 for an ambulance, 112 for police, or 128 for the fire department. You can also contact the National Emergency at info@urgjenca.gov.al (http://urgjenca.gov.al/ ).
