Routine Message: U.S. Embassy Havana, Cuba delayed opening April 2, 2026

Location: Havana, Cuba

Event: The U.S. Embassy will postpone opening for U.S. citizens on Thursday April 2, 2026, until 11 a.m. due to a regime planned event in the plaza in front of the Embassy. All streets in the neighborhood will be closed to all vehicle traffic. The U.S. Embassy will be closed on Friday, April 3 for a local holiday.

We remind U.S. citizens to avoid large gatherings.  U.S. citizens with emergencies should call +(53) (7) 839-4100; after hours dial 1, then 0.  We are unable to answer visa inquiries.

• Avoid crowds.

• Be aware of heightened police presence as well as traffic detours and interruptions to transit.

• Be aware of your surroundings.

• Monitor local media for updates.
