Security Message for U.S. Citizens: Belgrade (Serbia), Potentially Violent Soccer Match on July 25

The U.S. Embassy in Belgrade informs U.S. citizens that on Tuesday July 25 at 8:45 pm soccer club Partizan will play Olympiacos (Greece) at Autokomanda Stadium in Belgrade.  There is the potential for violence before, during, and after this match.  Expect police activity and crowds around Partizan stadium.  Embassy personnel are generally advised to avoid the vicinity of high-profile sporting events.

 

Even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and escalate into violence.  You should avoid areas of demonstrations, and exercise caution if in the vicinity of any large gatherings, protests, or demonstrations
