U.S. Embassy Ashgabat invites all OSAC constituents to a meeting of the Ashgabat Country Council to be held at 6:00 p.m. on April 7.

A message from RSO Ashgabat:

To Whom it May Concern,

Good Afternoon.  I am the Regional Security Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan and would like to invite the Senior Manager, General Manager, CEO, or Security Manager from your company to a reception that will be held on April 7, 2011 from 1800-1930.  The venue is still to be determined.

The purpose of the reception is for me to determine if the interest and numbers exist in order to start an OSAC Country Council.  I will talk briefly about the OSAC mission, ask for volunteers to fill the positions of the Steering Committee, answer questions, and then there will be time for all to get acquainted.

Benefits of OSAC Country Councils include:

Opportunities for representatives of American businesses and nongovernmental organizations in-country to network and share security concerns and best practices.

Regular meetings, which serve to inform you about matters of security – from crime and safety awareness to terrorism concerns.

A dedicated web site for the exclusive use of the Country Council that will enable the business/NGO community to communicate regularly outside of meetings, with informative postings that will keep you up-to-date with the security situation.

The full benefits of OSAC’s Research and Information Support Center in Washington, D.C., where regional analysts focus on security concerns for representatives of American organizations abroad and provide timely security information and coordination.

The Steering Committee will set the date of the next meeting and usually determines how often meetings will occur.  The Steering Committee usually consists of:  a Communications Officer, a Webmaster, a Meeting Coordinator, Treasurer, Co-Chairman, and Vice-Chairman, but can include more positions.
