Security Message for U.S. Citizens: LaPaz (Bolivia), Demonstration on December 27

The U.S. Embassy in La Paz informs U.S. citizens that a demonstration organized
by the Medical Sector and by the Central Obrera Boliviana (COB) is expected to
take place in the city of La Paz in Plaza del Estudiante, in front of the Ministry of
Health, on December 27, 2017. According to the local media, approximately 400
to 500 people are expected to participate in this demonstration with the stated
purpose of demanding the government to modify Article 205. Be aware that this
demonstration may last for several more days and will continue to impact traffic in
the surrounding areas.

Even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and escalate
into violence. You should avoid areas of demonstrations and exercise caution if in
the vicinity of any large gatherings, protests, or demonstrations.
