Security Message for U.S. Citizens: La Paz (Bolivia), Road Block Between Santa Cruz and Trinidad

The U.S. Embassy in La Paz informs U.S. citizens that a 24 hour road block is
expected to take place in the city of Pailon, between the departments of Santa Cruz
and Trinidad, on December 27, 2017. According to the local media, approximately
40 to 50 doctors and health workers are expected to participate in this road block in
support of the medical sector. Be aware that this road block may extend to 72
hours and will impact traffic in the surrounding areas.

Even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and escalate
into violence. You should avoid areas of demonstrations and exercise caution if in
the vicinity of any large gatherings, protests, or demonstrations.
